Aaron Retych and Duncan O'Brien, former Auburn Advanced Manufacturing students, were awarded scholarships from the Gene HAAS Foundation. These scholarships were part of the $15,000 the Gene Haas Foundation awarded Auburn Career Center to use for scholarships for students entering the manufacturing field.
Retych and O'Brien are the first recipients of the scholarship.
Retych, of Newbury, is currently studying general manufacturing at Lakeland Community College and working at STAR Precision Technologies in Mentor.
"I am honored and humbled. I will use this scholarship to further my education at Lakeland and give back by promoting the excellent training and education at Auburn Career Center," said Retych.
"I am very grateful for Auburn Career Center's preparation and continued attention in preparing their students for the workplace. This scholarship will greatly assist me in my pursuit of higher education in mechanical engineering at the University of Akron," said O'Brien of Painesville.
Advanced manufacturing instructor Terry Colescott and Principal Jeff Slavkovsky presented the scholarships.
