Auburn Students to Donate 80 Care Packages to Military

CONCORD TWP. –Auburn Career Center’s students are focusing on the military for their SkillsUSA community service project.

Auburn’s Allied Health Technology students Cara Robinson, of Riverside, and Mary Eschenauer and Ashley Beesler, both of Madison, organized, collected and assembled care packages for the troops as part of their SkillsUSA community service project. They look forward to moving on to compete at the state competition in Columbus in April.

They collected deodorant, bandages, toothpaste, toothbrushes, travel size shampoo and body wash, Chap Stick, tissues, cough drops, baby wipes, Advil, lotion, razors, feminine hygiene products, socks and soap.

“My grandfather is a veteran, and I’ve always looked up to him,” said Eschenauer. “That’s why it means a lot to me that we picked a patriotic theme for our project and can give back to our military.”

Kaylee Gromek, of Riverside, also assisted with collecting and assembling the packages.

SkillsUSA is a national nonprofit organization that is a partnership of students, teachers and industry working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce. Competitions are held annually and include numerous contests. The contests are judged by volunteers including industry representatives and community leaders.
