|Message from the Superintendent|
Our students have returned and our staff is geared up to implement the critical ideas shared at our last strategic planning session. The themes that emerged from our process included Interpersonal Capacity, Perception Challenge, Character, Workforce Training, Workplace Experience and Career Awareness. Acting on the input received, Auburn Career Center is piloting a new course created in partnership with the Values in Action Foundation. The VIA Employability Skills training program is a values-based approach toward building integrity, honesty and character in individuals. A special feature of each program includes the partnership of five businesses who will assist in mentoring, providing feedback to students during presentations, interviews, plant tours and their capstone project that features their personal strengths and skills. This program is an excellent response to the input gained in our planning session. Community input is setting the direction for Auburn Career Center to be a true provider of the next generation in the workplace.
Implementing the changes recommended through Strategic Planning since 2011, I want to share with you some of the recognition that Auburn has received. I credit so much of the program recognition acknowledging the role of business partners to your investments of time, personnel and partnership. This summer, Auburn Career Center was one of three Career and Technical Education centers featured for programming and especially for student preparation for the workforce and post-secondary options in a national publication, Achieve. As we returned this fall, Auburn Career Center was informed that CareerSafe named Auburn as one of four career technical centers in the country identified as an example of promoting safety practices in our educational programs.
Thank you again for your support of Auburn Career Center.
